“The Annual Money Report”

Our tradition and policy are that we annually publish financial reports.  Because we collect and spend monies for the Winter Cocktail Party (WCP) on either side of December 31, our fiscal year end is March 31.  Because COVID impacted our attendance and spending, we didn’t publish reports for the previous 2 years. The attached 3-year comparison report has 2024, 2023, and 2020 (the last year before COVID).

Our 2024 net income was $140 – a little better than break-even. On the income side: for 2024 our dues collected was $855 (vs $885 in 2023 vs $1,115 in 2020). Very positive over the three years is the steady growth in dues from new members growing from $150 in 2020, $195 in 2023, to $225 in 2024.  During COVID bank deposit rates were about 0%, but in 2023 we took out a $29,200 CD at about 5% generating interest income of $1,039;  significantly, 39% of our income was derived from the endowment. 9% of our income was from a member’s $250 gift in honor of the service of Jay van Santen & Eric Baiz.

Total expenses for 2024 were $2,554:  composed of $758 in Communications (mostly the website), $735 in pitch-in costs mostly food (entre meats), $664 for the Winter Cocktail Party (which had a net loss of $114 after special contributions), Marketing cost of $198 (mostly Meetup), Charitable donations of $150, and Finance of $49 (mostly the 3% fee from PayPal for online payments). Of note, the 2023 expenses were greatly impacted by the $4,694 spent on the 45th Anniversary party paid from the endowment. The most recent year’s expenses are fairly representative of what we can expect in the next year.

We are in a strong financial position with about $30,200 in the CD and $1,500 in the checking account. As we rebuild the membership to pre-COVID levels, our net cash flow will be even better.
